A newly defined purpose with inclusion at its heart

Outsource UK inclusion

Outsource UK is one of the largest independent recruitment companies in the UK, supplying highly skilled talent within a range of specialist sectors.

The new management wanted to bring their team together under a shared purpose, mission, vision and values, all of which would put inclusion at the heart of the Outsource business.

The challenge

Working closely with the new leadership team, we drafted an ambitious new purpose statement.

Outsource UK wanted to be recognised by their employees, peers and the industry as a recruiter that champions the elimination of bias, privilege, and inequality.

But their people needed to buy into it, really own it, and help the organisation live and breathe it.

That’s where we came in.

Our approach

In the first phase, we helped Outsource UK develop a strategy and roadmap of how they could embed their new purpose internally and externally.

We designed an internal launch event, where all employees could take part in activities which helped bring their new purpose to life.

We decided the best way to articulate their ambition and engage their people behind it would be through an emotive film.

We identified four key workstreams, each led by a nominated employee, and the culture change programme began with gusto! We helped the team develop the roadmap for this programme, by workstream, and provided the framework for the organisation to manage the programme through.

The results

Over 60% of workforce have volunteered to get involved in the equity initiatives that are run across the company.

Outsource have becoming a leading voice on Diversity and Equity in the tech talent space. Not only driving their own metrics up, but also helping their clients. Gender equality was achieved last year and gender pay equality is achieved by job role throughout the organisation.

The new purpose has also encouraged Outsource team to engage with their clients on the topic and start to ask some challenging questions. This has resulted in three specific assignments to look at gender equality and social mobility within the tech arena.
